Words can't describe how happy I am right now. I am currently sitting in a tiny office at probably the most self inflicting hair pulling/eye gauging freelance gig I have ever worked at. And in a couple of hours I will walk out of here for the last time and officially be on vacation. But the best part about all of this, is tomorrow morning I get to roll out with my friends on motorcycles to Born Free 3 where I will win this 1947 Knucklehead. Following that I will ride it to North Carolina with Pinzon and Al. After that I will bust a big louie up to Michigan to see my friends and family. And after all that I will take the northern pass back to California. While most of that is true, and some of it is hopeful, all of it is good. Life is good. Go get some life.

That was what I remember hearing from Jason and/or Nick the first time I walked into the ATR garage a few months ago. To tell you the truth I don't know which one of them said it, but then again they're pretty much the same person... Kidding of course. I bring it up b/c I see people (myself included) getting worked up about motorboppers sometime. It's cool and all, but it's just not worth getting stressed out about. My bike wasn't running and I was pissed, now it's running and I'm stoked. But who know's how long that'll last. My luck probably 12 hours. Shit goes up and down. Just like them roads you travel on. Up and down, or maybe what a nice girl does when she thinks you've bought her enough gin and tonics. Speaking of which, Titty Tuesdays are whatever. If that's the reason anyone comes to this blog I can direct you to a few of my chosen favorites on this disgusting thing called the world wide web. So Eric picked up this cherry 1950's Triumph Pre Unit for next to nothing. Without a doubt it is the Craigslist 2011 deal of the year and the year ain't even over.

Sitting in a VA hospital under some blankets for 11+ years, in storage for who knows before that. Apparently the original owner - a Vietnam Vet had it rebuilt before he put it away. Everything on the bike is solid and customized perfectly to a T.

Original stretched Harley front end, Joe Hunt magneto, Mk 2 springer rear hub to absorb thy bumps, Flanders dogbones, some brass aftermarket clamp for the front end that you can't find anywhere, beautiful blue metal flake, chrome frame, dope seat and sissy, the list goes on and on.

The best part is all we did was new fluids and a swap of the rickety 19 for a 21 front - even used the same spacers. She fired right up.

So I wrote a whole post and the the blogger shit was down and it didn't get saved. FML. Anyways this is Benson. Daniel Benson to be presumed, and he's a photographer from The U.K.

Benson was in town a few months ago on an ominous assignment with overtones of extreme personal danger when he was sent to shoot and interview Eddie. The write up would be done in the first issue of a new magaZINE called The Albion. Since then it has been released and is filled with dope photo's, great writing, and is the price of FREE! Sort of a Vice meets Holeshot BMX zine. If you don't know what Holeshot is than go fuck yourself. Just kidding.

In the 11 page interview is a double page spread of Eddie surfing on Erics Triumph, stories of a borrowed Camaro, BMX bullshit, and even some chopper talk. If you can find a copy (which you probably can't as it's sold out) check it out b/c other than Eddie's shit there's an amazing interview of Mat Hoffman, an eerily scary in depth interview with Stephen Hamilton that reads of something out of 70's issue of Rolling Stone, and a bunch of other stuff that I'm too tired to list again.

But back to Benson. Benson is the shit. He parties hard and gets it in the next day (barring his subject gets his shit together). I remember one hungover morning waking up to Benson yelling at Ed who may have been passed out in the kitchen... "Two more PHOT-O'S!" The British accent really put it over the top. Which by the way is great to watch him lay down as thick as possible when there's a kitten at the bar who "loves it when a guy has a nice accent." It was a good couple of weeks and I think the whole crue would be stoked to see him back on the West coast sooner than later.

And now for the apology... So a few days ago was Tuesday. Titty Tuesday. This is supposed to be taken care of by three individuals who will not remain nameless - Ed, Jesse, and Dr. P. I have a few gems I've been saving but the amount of personal shots from these guys' hard drives would rival a farm of Facebook servers. So by pointing this out I can only hope that this upcoming Titty Tuesday is a memorable one to make up for the mistake.

I'm no motorcycle builder, and I'm not a "designer". I mean, I attempt those things, and I'm always asking my friends for their opinions but I ain't no pro at this shit. Moving to Southern California and being around all these different bad asses will humble you. Seeing what they do makes you slap your forehead and go "Of course!" Or you just stare at their bikes or cars and just think, how the fuck do they come up with this?

I've seen Caleb Owen's ridiculous pan for this years Born Free and marvel at all the details. Yet I'm more syked on how it isn't over the top somehow. A little bracket like that must of taken so long to do.

I'll walk around Jason Webber's garage and find subtle-artisitc-almost homo erotic pieces and laugh at how unique his stuff is. He said he was bored at 1am when he modified this kicker. That is so sick!

And while I've never been to Max Schaaf's shop or even seen one of his bikes in person, I can't get over the bikes he's built. They're perfect. As lame as that sounds and as much of a cop out it is, they just are. Wow wow... I take that back. I've seen one of his Panheads.

I was walking on Sunset one day and saw this bike from across the street. Ran over and snapped a shot. No one was by it so I ended up scoping it hard (no homo) and thinking who the hell did this? Month's later working on an edit I saw it again. A friend of mine looked over and goes "Oh yeah Max built that". Dang, small world.

I got a buddy back in the mitten named Scott who brings it all back to the fun though. He'll build off the wall stuff. Some might say cause he doesn't give a fuck. I think it's cause he's not around anyone that would otherwise spout their opinions of his shit in his shop. He just builds whatever he thinks would be fun for him. And that's it.

These days I struggle finishing my bike. So close, yet so far away. I just want to make it to Born Free. But I've got less time than that. In 27 days, 3 hours and like 29 minutes it'll be June 1st. And Ed said (ha, "Ed said") that if our bikes aren't able to go to SF on a whim we have to sell them and buy stock cb750's. Whew, talk about a deadline.

p.s. I am wearing flip flops in the shop (all homo).

Reading Nick's post on ATR inspired me to post up this picture. This is my father outside Hewlett High School on Long Island in 1965. That was his aqua blue '64 1/2 Mustang. My dad used to walk around school in black suits and black sunglasses - 15 years before The Blues Brothers. So you can imagine finding old photo's, talking to his buds from school, and hearing my mom's stories (they were high school sweet hearts) that I look up to him quite a bit.

There's a lot of cool parents out there. I know Eddies dad is a wild one to this day. One of the last times I saw him he was getting buck nutty on a jet ski that would make Kenny Powers jealous.

I moved to LA from Michigan about a year ago. Opting for the fun way of travel I drove to Austin, TX with my good friend and photographer Joe Gall.

The first stop was in Kalamazoo, MI to hang out with a legend in many circles - Scott Towne. He will hate that I phrased it like that, but when you've heard it from others for so long it just kind of sticks.

The next stop was St. Louis and we crashed at our buddy Cole's house. Cole's got a pile of motorbikes and kills it on a bmx. Cole taking out his cherry GMC once and for all, and me river gaping not gapeing my old xs650.

I think this was taken the year before when we went down to Texas, but it was the same routine. Get into town 15 minutes before the bar closes and order 3 jack 'n cokes each.

This was taken somewhere in Texas after a week of partying in Austin. Joe flew out from there and I made the lonely 22 hour drive to LA myself.

Joe's coming to town next month and we're about to get buck nutty like ol' times. I imagine he'll fit right in with the current party crue.
